My 2012 wedding season began in January with Kimberly and Ryan and their lovely winter wedding. They chose to have their big day at an enchanting community called Serenbe, near Palmetto, GA . As the name suggests, it is a beautiful and serene place with rolling hills and horse pastures, lakes and gardens. Everything about this location is so romantic, a perfect place for a wedding. Their entire day was full of precious moments between family and friends, laughter and smiles, and amazing personal touches.
We started the day at the Paisley Salon which is located inside the Serenbe community. While the ladies had their hair and make-up done, they relaxed and caught up on face time. All of Kimberly's bridesmaids came from out of town to be with her on her special day! All the ladies wore a braid in their hair, including the bride. I thought it was such a sweet idea! And my favorite visitor in the salon? Cooper, the owner's adorable little doggie that loved sitting in everyone's lap. So precious!
The Inn is an restored old farmhouse and the rooms are all amazing with tall ceilings and lots of windows. The bridal suite is so romantic with beautiful soft light coming from the windows and a row of mirrors along the back wall. Kimberly was gorgeous as she and her maids put the final touches on her dress. One of her wedding day presents from her mother was a plaid garter belt that came from Scotland! And I especially love that she wore cowboy boots and a navy cardigan over her dress. They were perfect little touches for a winter wedding.
Kimberly and Ryan choose to have a First Look before their ceremony. Near the lake, there is a romantic path that runs underneath a pergola wrapped in vines. We thought this would be the perfect place for the couple to see each other for the first time. They were so sweet when the saw each other!
Just down a path from the Inn, through the vegetable garden and down the stone stairs is a small open field with a single tree, affectionately know as 'The Kissing Tree.' This perfect setting is where their ceremony took place. Kimberly and Ryan's friends and family joined them under the tree in the light of the setting sun to watch them recite their vowels.
The reception was held at The Farmhouse at Serenbe, the restaurant inside The Inn and there were so many personal touches in the decor. The tables were dressed with beautiful flowers in mixed and matched glass vases and jars that Kim and her family collected. The menu, place cards and table cards were made by the bride's sister. And perhaps the most amazing personal touch, the bride's father handmade a wooden cake stand carved with the bride and groom's initials and their wedding date! What an amazing gift and talent!!
These yummy cupcakes and the awesome Alabama Groom's Cake were made by The Blue Eyed Daisy, a restaurant and bakery also located inside the Serenbe community. Yes, those are cookie mustaches on top of smores cupcakes, complete with marshmallow icing! So fabulous!!
After dinner and toasts, dances and cake cutting, or should I say cupcake-food-fighting, the the reception went on into the night. They danced, they laughed, they licked icing off their faces, and smile with cookie mustaches. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day for one of the sweetest couples I have ever met.
